Our Team
At Milwaukee Bilingual Speech/Language Pathologists, our team consists of bilingual speech/language pathologists who have graduated with a Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders with a specialty in Bilingual Speech/Language Pathology.
As a part of that training, our bilingual SLPs have all completed:
- Extensive coursework on bilingual development and multicultural issues
- On-campus clinical hours with bilingual clients under the supervision of a bilingual SLP
- Semester-long student practicum experiences serving bilingual children in the schools under the supervision of bilingual and monolingual SLPs
Our team brings a wealth of individual professional experiences, including:
- Serving as on-campus clinical supervisors for graduate students in bilingual speech/language pathology
- Teaching graduate courses in assessment in bilingual speech/language pathology
- Serving as an ASHA CEU peer reviewer on topics regarding bilingualism
- Conducting a variety of professional development trainings on English Language Learners for speech departments and at conventions
- Conducting research in bilingual development and assisting in language transcription for research purposes
- Working to train clinicians and counsel families following cleft lip and palate repairs in Central America
- Decades of experience conducting evaluations of Spanish-speaking, bilingual, and monolingual English-speaking students in urban and rural school districts
- Decades of experience writing and implementing IEPs for Spanish-speaking and bilingual children
- Decades of experience conducting parent interviews and interpreting IEP meetings in Spanish
- Supervision of over 20 bilingual graduate students during completion of their student teaching practicum experiences
- Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) supervision for bilingual SLPs
- Serving on the community advisory board for Marquette University’s Bilingual English-Spanish Speech/Language Pathology program (BIES).
- Experience providing evaluations and therapy through Birth-to-Three and Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) agencies in two states.
- Expertise evaluating and implementing a variety of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.
